eichler: I have been reading all the posts on this thread each day, however since taking some time away it is more in a few burst instead of real time streaming...LOL I may have not noticed it, but I don't recall anyone laughing or ridiculing your expectations. A little jesting and ribbing is par for this thread as we all try to maintain a since of humor as we put our grub stakes at risk...<g> This thread was started to attract opposing views and different styles of analysis. A good mix of senior, sophomore and freshmen investors benefits us all as well. Answering questions reminds us all of the finer points and it is not rare for someone new to investing to add something worthwhile as well. I think diversification benefits us all. It is a fact when opposing views are present (and I hope they always will be) everyone cannot be right. The goal is to be right more often than you are wrong. The primary objective of this thread is to assist us all in keeping our portfolio balances moving in the right direction...<g> The contributors of this thread have never been quick to praise, as we tend to focus on track records. Well ... if the commercials are still shorting .. I would guess we aren't going anywhere upwards too fast. Random musings on earnings next week ... AMAT is expected to guide lower when it reports earnings on Wednesday. HWP is trading weakly either because they are expected to annouce a takeover ... or their earnings guidence for some sectors is also expected to be weak. They also report Wednesday. NTAP reports Tuesday, but there's rumours they have been offering discounted prices to maintain growth. This hit INKT shares a few weeks ago. BEAS & SCMR also report Tuesday. Given the concern over Williams (70%+ of revenue) dropping SCMR (since they sold all the shares they owned in the company and no longer have quite the incentive to maintain the stock price), it will be interesting to hear what they say .. forward guidence wise. It will be an interesting week. There are a number of question marks overhanging some of the higher profile companies reporting .... course .. normally I wouldn't worry about fundamentals ... but .. times, they are a'changin' Regards Stephen
