There used to be a relationship between MHZ and performance advantage prior to P4...For example, 700 MHz Athys and PWeeiii's performed approximately the same, the major differentiating characteristic being the Athy's price advantage...That's all changed now with P4 it seems which at 1.5 MHz may not operate as well as a 1.2 MHz Athy, even though double the price...Why would anyone in their right mind pay double the price for 300 more MHz when it can't deliver superior performance...INTC may have shot themselves in the foot yet again by introducing the P4 which at same MHz level performs at significantly inferior level...MHz is no longer meaningful as a performance benchmark with the intro of the P4 as the 1.5 gig P4, even though double the price, doesn't outperform the 1.2 gig Athy...The implication is that a 1.2 P4, if it existed is significantly inferior to a 1.2 gig Athy...That just wasn't the case between the PWeeiii 700 MHz and the Athy 700 MHz...Sounds like the Athy at a given MHz level is the superior performer vis a vis the 1.5 gig...May, as a consequence, be a tough sell for the P4, shaking of this negative inference...
