In a close Presidential election, it is customary for the victor (however close) to move quickly and cleanly into transition. And for the loser to make it as easy as reasonable in order to minimize the kind of strife we're seeing.

Gore should have done the classy thing and accepted the re-vote and stated it looks like Bush is the winner, unless the absentee ballot falls strongly my way.

Instead, we saw the Democrats who have become "clintonized" move quickly with 75 lawyers to descend on Florida, and find any legal manipulation possible to help Gore. Even if that manipulation means we will only hand-count Democratic Districts which might favor Gore.

It's transparent and despicable. But not unexpected.

"I only wish I could get the names of each and every person who voted for me."
"To keep your movement alive?"
"No, to sell to a catalog company or something."
