More news from the Banana Republic of Florida..Article..Police find locked ballot box at Miami hotel

uk.news.yahoo.com
MIAMI (Reuters) - Miami police on Friday found a locked ballot box from the disputed Florida election at a downtown hotel, a police officer said on Saturday.

Police Lt. Diego Ochoa was speaking at a town hall meeting called by the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) to hear testimony of alleged irregularities in the election.

Florida's 25 electoral votes hold the key to Tuesday's election as neither candidate can reach the 270 votes required to win the keys to the White House without them. A recount was ordered when the state race became too close to call.

Ochoa, a 26-year veteran of the police department, said he came forward with the consent of his commanding officer and arrangements were now under way for election officials to pick up the box.

The ballot box was labelled "Number 541." It was locked and was sealed by police with evidence paper.

"At the moment we don't know exactly what's in the box," the officer said. He said: "We called the election departments yesterday (Friday/Veteran's Day) to tell them. As it was a holiday no one answered. That's what I understand."

It was not clear how the box arrived at the hotel and Ochoa did not say if there would be a criminal investigation. There were no further details

I'm sure Gore has 1,000 reasons why his "home state" of Tennessee didn't vote for him. Actually, his "home state," - the District of Columbia - DID vote for him. AlGore is as much a Tennessean as I am an inventor of the internet.

I respect Gore for taking a stand against tobacco as it destroys many many lives. And he was willing to give up the votes of his own state because of his beliefs? Now there's a man I admire.

Anyone want to discuss what Bush wants to do to our countries precious resources feel free!

And why does he want to do this? Because his oil buddies and other business friends who donated big campaign $$$ want have some big $$$$ plans...He wouldn't stand up for protecting our earth against them, as he would lose their support and possibly the state of Texas as Al Gore lost Tennessee.

He believes more in oil & business profits than protecting the planet we live on for future generations. This fact cannot be denied as anyone who would drill for oil in a protective wildlife refuge cares only about one thing...

Oh yeah, further destructive logging of our national forests - another good idea. And for $$$$$$$ also.
And while your at it, why not just kill the little power the EPA has as far as protecting us from the toxic waste of big business.

That's for $$$$$$$$$$ too of course, as his buddies who donated big bucks to the campaign need to be paid back now with big favors...
