Yup,

We have a president who will maintain the office till sometime on January 20, 2001.

Whatever happens between now and Dec 17, or January 20, has been provided for by the constitution, or existing state law(s).

If only the "no-good do-gooders" would keep their fat mouths shut AND stay the heck away from . There are plenty of these large ego'ed folks on BOTH sides. Get rid of them, and let Florida manage itself as proscribed by law. Man, if I were a Floridian, I would be plenty upset about all those "foreigners" telling me how to manage my states affairs.

Perhaps one of the best things that MAY come of this folderol, is that a more modern vote tallying process will be enacted; state-by-state; across the nation. Isn't it amazing that some states have the ability to provide accurate counts within HOURS of precincts closing, yet here we are, waiting for absentee ballots to arrive (postmarked by November 7) oversees ballots to arrive (same postmark) and of course the "butterfly confusion", as well as the "hanging chad" problem. What I don't understand is why the populace has allowed for so long the possibility of seemingly large numbers of votes to not be tallied owing to some problem with the ballot, and the fact that it seems to be acceptable that a percentage of votes won't matter.

Our county tried those "butterfly" ballots, and they were eliminated in short order. I remember looking at the "card", and having to remove the little rectangular piece of paper that should have been completely removed. Whoever created that device did not create a better mousetrap in my opinion. Now we have the pleasure of using an ink pen to fill in the oval. Sort of like a SAT test. Talk about getting a panic attack. <G>

And the great experiment continues…….
