I do not know the answer to that question. It would make sense, however, that one with a GPS enabled phone could be able to switch it off. I dunno.

There are other methods of doing location w/i a network other than triangulation. Another way is by directional beams in the base station and determining the signal strength of the mobile's connection. Then the base station checks a computer where there is a map of all SSs to determine the location. That appears to be an extremely complex method.....
