You both make the point that shorting is faster, easier $.

Typically you will find a market moving down with higher speed. I.e. more movement in less time. Its just generally true that things drop faster than they climb.

Many folks are unclear or afraid of shorting, but its such a great tool at times that traders and investors do themselves a disservice by not employing that tactic.
