>> don't forget me.

Not to worry; that will never happen. Meeting you in 1998 was one of the best strokes of luck I've ever had <gg>.

As you say, the nasdaq is at its low for the year. The good news is that I'm nowhere near the low I hit back on May 26. I'd need to drop another 22% before I'd face a wall of worry that I haven't previously proved I could scale.

I share your feelings about doing nothing at this point. In fact, I'm going into Ostrich Mode until this election mess is resolved. As Sir Lyre so eloquently pointed out, business has been good for our Gorillas and Kings, and is projected to be even better next year. As soon as folks realize that the sky isn't falling, I expect some relief from Mr. Market's moodiness.

I have had several PMs about what I am going to do. The answer is:

Stand Pat!

After a lot of thought over the weekend, I have changed my mind. The first thing for those of you reading this to remember is, I am in a 401 account.

MY DECISION HAS NO TAX CONSEQUENCES!

My thinking is as follows:

1) We will remain in this Bear market until the political situation is clarified. That will not be before this weekend, if then. I see no sustainable upside until this is settled.

2) Therefore, the best I can expect is that my portfolio will not go down any more than it has.

3) I have just taken a 20% haircut, and I could easily do the same again this week.

4) I find that all of this is causing me more worry than it ever has before. I see no immediate upside, and a lot of potential downside.

So I have placed orders to sell my positions at the market Monday morning and go to all cash for now. I have no way to know if the market will open up or down Monday, and I am not going to try to play games and time it.

I am out for now. I have just got rid of a lot of worry, and will sleep better.

>>I have managed to mis-manage my portfolio better than anyone on this thread this year!<<

Bill, I always enjoy reading about your investment decisions. I do not always agree with them, but they are always thought provoking. Good luck on your move into cash this morning. Gutsy, and likely smart, if you can jump back in at the right time.

Curious, you were 100% QCOM when the year began. If you had stayed 100% QCOM would you be better off or worse off right now?
