Both sides have high-powered lawyers monitoring the counting go on in every county, and one of the reasons they are there is to ensure that this process is done fairly and consistently, and if there as a dispute, it can be settled in court. GW's lawyers have already shown they know the way to the courthouse. Moreover, do think that every voting machine in Florida, which I understand employ different voting systems, is calibrated in the exact manner? That is no doubt one of the reasons why the Florida law provides the extra check of a hand count.

Hitech, you are absolutely correct in your comments about the subjective nature of hand counts. Unfortunately, it appears that Florida law permits this. I do not see how we can achieve closure when the process is reduced to wrangling about hanging chad. It will be most interesting to see how th markets take the news: the weekend produced less rather than more clarity/closure.
