"Just semantics, my dear. Don't get huffy with me."

Not being huffy, darling, just asking a basic question. Semantics is the study of the meaning of language and therefore of verbally communicated thought. The mixing or confusing of tenses leads to semantic aphasia, calling into question the entire meaning and validity of the statement.

As it turns out, apparently arab officials from those countries simply toned down the language of a preliminary draft of the final declaration of the summit that begins tomorrow in such a way that continuation of existing formal relations with Israel would not be precluded.
