The odds must now be against Bush and his people - and they know it. He's on a hiding to nothing IMO because if he succeeds on getting an injunction to prevent a recount - he will win with a huge shadow of doubt about the legitacy of his mandate - especially as he trails in the popular vote. If he was ahead in the popular vote at least he could claim some legitimacy on that account. His haste to transition is ill advised in the circumstances.
