I can't understand why the republicans would let the 72 hour deadline expire without filing for a hand recount in the counties that Bush did best. They should have known what the average error rate is and how many votes Gore would pick up in the counties he filed in. They must have had a contingency plan of some sort. What will their next move be? Will they file for a recount in those other close states now and give Florida to Gore? I say no, I think they will turn the lawyers loose now.
