Some people may be doing exactly the opposite. The last two times we have elected a republican president the market has went down the next year and the last two times we have elected a democrat the market has went up the next year. That takes us back to 1984, I don't know about the years before that.

this drags out beyond this week and we're in trouble imo. i hope for a relief rally; BUT since EVERYONE is looking for one once this bs ends, it becomes less likely. time will tell. i thought of all the worst case scenarios before the elections to decided whether i should trim the portfolio in advance of 07 november. obviously i could never contemplate a debacle like this. we don't so much have a rush to the exits; it's just that the buyers are on strike until they see just how bad this is going to get. of course, since friday it has gotten worse, not better.
