In many ways I like Colin Powell...actually I admire him for his accomplishments. But this is the challenge that I make to Mr. Powell...actually to his son and daughter, since his face is so well known. Go to some of the elite country clubs across the country and try to join without it being known that they are Colin Powell's children. Then tally the number of times they are told..."We will get back to you concerning your membership approval."

My daughter participated in a annual gala function in a Texas city last year. This is the biggest and most socially elite bash in which the Queen's gown cost about $50,000 and the Court's gowns cost an average of $5,000-$7,000. If one didn't know better they would think the Queen of England was being crowned.

At one of the first functions, I noticed that over the approximately 100 young college students(boys as escorts and the Queen and her Court) there was not one minority in the group. I asked one of the proud leaders of this organization as to why this was the case and was told...We had an uppity ******doctor who wanted his daughter to be in the court several years ago, but WE had a private meeting with him and convinced him that if he wanted to be successful in OUR town, he had better drop that wish for his daughter. Bottomline to this story and an update...this Texas county voted about 4:1 for Bush and if Colin Powell wants to see his children in this gala of festivities, he needs to check the waitstaff and kitchen at the country club in this town.

Now before you flaming conservative come down hard on me...I don't care if you have your private country clubs. Just don't tell me that you want your candidate to be elected to the presidency because he "trust the people" and will bring us together as a nation. It is kind of like my first sergeant in the army...I took him to a club one night and he got "three sheets to the wind" and I pointed out a white guy and black girl out on the dance floor. I asked him what he thought about that pairing. His answer I will never forget and sadly it hasn't changed over the thirty years since it was said to me. His response was..."I damn sure would F### that black bitch, but I be damn if I would dance with her."

So please don't tell me that Bush and the elite now want to dance with minorities in this country.
