Clearly the machines were defective. They were unable to read the intent of ballots cast that representatives of both parties and the Canvassing Board have been able to read.

Trying to make that argument that the machines are not defective would not carry Bush to the White House with any shred of honor left.

This is what my morning editorial stated, but it was regarding the hand count.

This is exactly where the Bush people are going to on Monday. For those partisans so enamored of following the law ('the will of the people' comment no longer 'operative'), it is in fact a reasonable interpretation of FL state law that a hand count is not appropriate in this circumstance because the 'irregularities' are not a result of machine error, but human error.
