Actually, it gives the state election authorities the discretion to ignore the results, it doesnt require them to.

It does seem unlikely. I wonder whether some provision is made in Florida law for extending the deadline.

I would think that deadline statutes exist to curtail needless delays, i.e. to compel dawdling counties to cough up. If a county were making a diligent effort to comply with a deadline, but circumstances prevented them from doing so, their may be some statutory relief.

Kyros or Mr. P might have something constructive to offer on this.

It took them from 9:30 AM Saturday to 2:00 AM Sunday to hand count 4,000 ballots. How long will it take them to hand count over 400,000 ballots? And remember, they must also interpret "voter intent" for each ballot.
