The Founders hoped-though they were smart enough not to assume-that the Senate would contain loyal enough citizens to act as an objective jury. They never met the Marxist-Lenninists who portray themselves as "liberals" in the the 21st century, and who would gather together and get their guy off as a raw act of power. They did, however, anticipate and fear the current Democrats, and thus built a system with the best chance to survive a criminal president.
They also built a system with the best chance to survive the same totalitarian criminals stealing elections, as they are attempting to do today. The nation recently survived the former travesty, and will easily survive the latter, should it occur.

We should, perhaps, pause for a minute and be thankful for such profound insight extending over a quarter of a millennium. But the job of the Republicans in Florida right now is to make the fight...
