average joe, The amount of money that is spent on the Indians would house and feed them well. So what goes wrong? The indian band councils steal it as they have limited self government. The only solution is on the reservation you are forced to live the old life and outside you must join the rest. As it is the reservations are totally destroyed by the Indians themselves, yet they want more monty for their lan access etc. A friend of mine taught on a reservation for 5 years. The kids all sniffed glue/gas/solvents and he was powerless to stop them. When he tried he had death threats as the glue and gas for them to sniff was sold by dealers who were indians too. There are correct solutions. There are no politically correct solutions. On the bizarre side, a friend of mine used to be a logger in Quebec. On fridays they used to go to a reservation and give a father a bottle. He would then provide a daughter. They would give her some whisky and have consensual sex with her. Now this was ten years ago, and I was shocked that this was going on. He also told me the Indians had little or not Incest taboo as well and this was their culture from way back. Women were possessions, trade goods. they used to trade them to other villages for horses etc. I know of nu humane way to correct this. I can see only coercive ways that involve isolation and loss of the Indian culture. The assorted religious groups tried this. First they destroyed their language by creating a language of funny symbols and they used that to write down all the Indian spoken traditions, and they they tried to teach them that way to read and write as well as English. Of course the religious groups wanted to control the Indians as they were given grants by the governments to run the reservations. So they did, and they became a collection of perverts preying on both sexes of Indian children. Recent court decisions in favor on Indiand bands will bankrupt these religious groups. If they had at least translated their language into English letter then we would be able to read it and any printer would be able to print it. As it was the religious groups controlled the fonts for those symbols and would not ptint dissident Indian views for the other Indians to read. All they got was religious crap....give me the child and I will own the man was practised by all the religious groups and not just the roman catholics. Now many bands exist in poverty and beg in ities and live as homeless here and there, yet enough has been mispent to allow them all to live a chateaux in paris. Bill
