David: a follow-up to that article I cited: Canadian Government officials stated they were sure they could 'work something out' if Bush got elected to the presidency and wanted to visit Canada

I'm not sure whether I question his intelligence.. altho that was pretty amusing.. but then.. most American politicians and Americans in general dont know anything about Canada anyhow.. so i think most of us are willing to over look the "poutine president" issue :)

Thats our biggest strength/advantage up here you know; you guys take us for granted. (Did you know that the country the past 10-15 yrs or so that America has run the biggest trade deficit with has been? not Japan.. not Germany.. but Canada.. i wonder how many down there know that.)

By the way.. back to Bush; 1 thing I do worry though about as a Canadian and a neighbour is Bush's lack of knowledge or lack of interest in foreign affairs and the isolationism he appears to want to take... as well as stating he doesnt want to get involved in incidents such as Bosnia that may be the moral thing to do, but instead only if it involves american self-interest. I find that view appalling. America must stay involved in world affairs.

Absurd? Yes but no more so than many statements around here dismissing Bush's intelligence. After all he did graduate with an MBA from Harvard. Gore flunked out of divinity school and dropped out of law school.

Dave,

And Bush got one or more DUIs....I think that's pretty stupid. In fact I think flunking out of divinity school is actually fairly smart....I would have been thrown out. <g>

These are standards.....DUIs, flunking out of divinity school, and dropping out of law school.....that people use to determine one's intelligence. However without knowing the other facts, I don't think anyone can make such a determination about either Gore or Bush.

I am more concerned that Bush may lack character rather than with his intellect...although I have to say that some of his gaffes in public bring that into question as well.
