I would have thought it was a movie script for some tawdry B class flick. Did you see Meet the Press this morning and poor Mary Matlin. 200 posts to wade thru, and I am sure this method of and end has already been discussed, but..... Why can't bush and gor get together and say screw all the other states, recounts and etc......Florida seems to be the problem. First, it just simply is not fair to only recount certain counties that are pro one candidate or the other...especially after they have all this info....like giving the jury info prior to selecting them for the jury. There is a discrepancy about votes in PB. In the past this was not a problem, it was done the way it was done, and that is that. But now, Gore wants to change things. Well, he may have a point...if there really was a discrepancy, then maybe PB should be recounted. Ok, so we now know that past precedent does not matter. rather then invalidating those votes, they are recounting because of a discrepancy. Well, ok then, we have proven that if there is a discrepancy we can alter things...change past precedent. Well, what about the film I saw of thousands and thousands of voters standing in line in chanting BUSH BUSH BUSH...the film showed these folks get very quiet and then disband to go home after florida was prematurely called to gore...this happened in quite a few places in florida from what I assimilate. A definate discrepancy. IF PB can vote again or be recounted because of a discrepancy, then so too can other florida counties. My idea is simple....let both candidates say that the vote stands in all other states ( yes I know about the argument if you count one, you need to count them all, but ....). Re-vote, or recount the whole state of florida, then wait til friday and announce a winner when absentee;s are in. Yes, I know there were discrepancies everywhere, but lets face it...at this point, we will not make everybody happy....we need to try and find a way to put closure to this in such a way that does not totally destroy our economy. Yes, folks will be upset in other places, but the serious beef right now seems to be PB and the rest of Florida. I think if everybody just agreed to let all other states stand ( after all....they were going to stay as is until this whole florida thing came up, then we said well, we may need to worry about other states)...let Gore keep wisconsin and bush keep whatever he got, and simply re-count or re-vote the entire state of florida. I will be appaled if gore is given the election on a less accurate handcount, when bush won 2 out of three of the more accurate type counts. Additionally, I think there is a huge discrepancy because of the many people that left and did not vote for bush when they thought it was already over. My take on this whole mess after some thinking is a simple mistake ( not so simple !!!) is what caused this whle thing. Had they not called florida for gore so early, bush would have gotten far more votes then needed to outweigh those that were in question further south. he would have been declared winner, and gore would not have turned around in his motorcade on his way to deliver a concession speech...bush would have been much.much further ahead, had everybody voted instead of going home.....simple as that.....if the demo's can say PB was a discrepancy...then certainly the thousands who are complaining that they wanted to vote for bush but dodnt because they thought it was a moot point, is also a discrepancy that needs to be rectified. Lastly....how could a judge....any judge, award gore the election on a handcount AFTER two more accurate counts showed bush the winner, and at the same time, not allow the republicans the same benefit of a handcount or revote in places there were discrepancy's?? If this happened, it would be so obviously onesided, I am afraid of the consequences it would cause in this country....time to end this....bush and gore have the power to do it. Time for them to act like men, and not idiots that are blind to what this is doing to america. Keith
