Election and market:

You may have misunderstood me. I agree that there's nothing wrong with the hand count. It's the selective nature of the hand count, which as sandeep points out is guaranteed to give Gore a victory, that I find troubling. Gore disguises this under the "full, fair, and accurate" language, when it's anything but. Do you think otherwise? Anyway, it's doubtful courts will find anything illegal about it, and it's the law that counts here. If you're saying the Reps are engaging in their own double-speak with respect to the inaccuracy of hand-counting, I agree with you: there's a large amount of rubbish heaped around a kernel of truth in Mr. Baker's arguments.

Did you see the news this morning? Katherine Harris is standing by the 5pm Tuesday deadline for completing the election recounts, as required by Florida law. I applaud this courageous decision - she's really putting her political posterior on the line. Someone had to act to bring some closure to this madness.

Market tanking today, below 3000 now. I hope this is over with by Friday.
