Nat, look at the map of who got what. It is inconceivable that New Mexico should go to Gore. I believe that some voters stayed home because of the snow storms and an early Florida call by the networks. If Bush wins NM, that shouldn't be considered a surprise.

Not being American, but living through these interesting times ... the thing I found less than impressive is that the automated counts have an error factor of 5%-7% !!. And no one thinks this is a problem ??. In this day and age, with the technology available, the error rate should be less than 1%. So much money is spent on the election - but obviously not enough to find out who really won ?!? Go figure ....

Dave:

The Florida Secretary of State, who was also the Bush Election State Chairman, is now closing down the vote as of Tuesday afternoon... This means that the hand counts will be abruptly stopped... IF Bush wins this way, he's going to lose the respect of many people in his own party... Whenever you thwart the right of people to have their votes counted you breed mistrust... The people of many countries around the world can attest to that... It's not acceptable to have votes thrown out en mass because a machine couldn't read them... That's not the American way... Then again, maybe it is...
