Had Clinton resigned and some of his cohorts done some time I would have a lot more respect for him and whomever.

And turn the country over to Gore? I'm really concerned that one of those guys (Bush or Gore) is actually going to be running the country in a couple of months.


I've told a number of friends that the Demos missed a great opportunity. Had they gotten Clinton to resign after January 1998, Gore would have had almost 2 years to look presidential and have everyone see that he wasn't going to screw up the country. He would have almost certainly won re-election easily (under the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" theory) and with less than 2 years in office, he still could have run for 2 more terms.

They should have been begging (read "paying") Clinton to leave office.
