One wrinkle for me is that my dad is trustee of my half-brother's estate inherited from my dad's third wife, and it's somewhat substantial. So he's trying to figure out what to do with the money in trust. My half brother is only 5, and so the question is what would a responsible fiduciary do with a trust which continues until the beneficiary is 25. That's literally a 20 year time horizon.

As a lawyer my thought is that he should diversify between different types of investments, some into conservative investments, some into aggressive investments. But the timing right now really sucks. That's my opinion, anyway.

My dad's brother, my uncle, has been in the stock market for over 40 years. He has agreed with me for several years that the market is overvalued, but he hasn't cashed out, yet, last I heard.
