Bush also said he would back away from the suit if Gore would withdraw his request for a hand recount.

In other words,"Quit doing that and I'll quit telling you to stop".

The character of Bush and his supporters is becoming clear from this first of crisis. Even his vacation could not help in his attempt to grow a spine. I expect him (or more properly his handlers) to determine a strategy that will allow his millions of dollars to work for him. So far in this crisis he has had to rely on brains, and has come up sorely lacking.
