I don't buy this argument.

1. I agree that their size limits growth potential, but AMAT has been very successful in garnering lions share of new tools, RTP, CMP, etc., and significant share of existing markets that they enter;

2. Customers want to be able to buy from more than one vendor;

3. Best of Breed will not be trivialized by Total Solution because time to market can not be too significant when lithography is 30% of front end, it has the longest lead times, and it is not part of AMAT's total solution. Also, cost of ownership and throughput determine profitability after the process has been implemented.
