You are absolutely wrong. There were protests about the pardon, to be sure, but the bulk of Ford's administration was far less mean spirited between the parties and Ford had decent approval ratings.

If he didn't there is no way that the '76 election would have been as close as it was. Remember, 24 years ago, Democrats were a larger % of the population than they are now, and Ford still got nearly 50% of the vote against Carter.

BTW, Falwell, Robertson and the rest of the Christian coalition would never have stood for Ford's pro-choice position...after all, I think he would be called a "murderer" by some on this thread.

I listen to Rush several times a week. I've heard some incredible callers on his show, but they are lambs compared to some of the invective I've heard on this thread.
