The Secretary of State, the state's chief elections officer, is a Republican who was co-chair of Bush's Florida campaign and convetion delegate. If you disqualify someone because they are a democrat or republican, there will be one left to make these decisions.

There is no credible reason for Lapore to recuse herself. I see no conflict of interest other than the tenuous reference to her supposed embarrassment over approving the ballot design. Big whoop. Apparently there must be some Bush backer prepared to replace her is all I came away with from John Fund's tortured attempt to get her to remove herself.
