Paul, I made about 1200 random phone calls around the country this morning. OK, I cheated and read the poll off the Internet. CNN poll showed 55% to 42% support the hand recount. BTW: The Republicans had no trouble accepting an interpretive hand recount in New Mexico: After the election Tuesday night, Gore unofficially led by 6,825 votes. But Bush crept up as counting through Friday as votes from Bernalillo, the state’s largest county, were tabulated, and he edged ahead thanks mainly to a manual count of ballots that were damaged in some way and were not counted Tuesday night. msnbc.com Pretty slimy that they would accept it in New Mexico, and reject it in Florida.
