I think Hastert has no chance. It looks to me like the 12th Amendment calls for the Vice President to remain in office if they fail to elect by March 4th of next year.

There won't be an interim president. If the Florida electors are still uncertified when the electoral college meets they will meet anyway. No one will get 270 votes, so the election will go to the house (current members, not newly elected ones), and they will pick someone.
