Scumbria,

re: "I'm very interested to know why there was such a large discrepancy between the exit polls and the count reported Friday night.

This does not jibe well with statistical theory. I have a strong suspicion there is much more to this story."

As I understand it, exit polling projections are based on past voting patterns, and the assumption that they will continue. The demographics in Florida have changed dramatically in the last four years, with many more young families and fewer seniors as a percentage of the population. That's the explanation I heard, there was also the explanation that they got "bad data" from some precincts.

Then there is my philosophy, if an exit poller ever asked me who I voted for, I would tell them exactly the opposite of what I did.

John

SCUMbria - re: 'I'm very interested to know why there was such a large discrepancy between the exit polls and the count reported Friday night."

Occam's razor - The Exit Polls were WRONG.

They were probably conducted from the "Grassy Knoll".
