Yes.. in the form that you desire.. Human psysiology, biology... how pregnancy occurs... how to prevent pregnancy... How to prevent sexual diseases... All of those are perfectly acceptable to me... But when it takes the form of deciding whether a child should or shouldn't have sex, or a particular form of sex, the school party line should be to advise abstinence. Abstinence may not happen in a perfect world, but if people are pushing it, making people feel good about being that way until they are an adult, or PREVENTING the ostracization of abstinent teens then maybe, just maybe some of that will soak in. I sure you must agree that teens are feeling MAJOR PRESSURE to have sex at ever younger ages. And that's because no one is telling why its dangerous or inadvisable. Everyone wants to just "accept the problem" and not try to change the thinking of these kids to think about abstinence. Schools should not be become a political battlegound for straight versus gay debates or discussions... The schools should be focusing on instilling tolerance for all beliefs WITHOUT having to explore the most intimate aspects of those beliefs. I don't have to know about the intimate sexual methodology of homosexuals for me to know that if they don't try to inflict their values on me, or adolescent children, then I really don't care what they do in their private lives. And btw, just so folks don't develop the mistaken beleif that I'm a homophobe, I REGULARLY HANG OUT in the Dupont Circle are of DC where it quite common to see guys sucking face, holding hands, or groping each other... Do I care? Not really... In fact, it adds some diversity. But I DO CARE when a segment of society, INCAPABLE OF BEARING CHILDREN (except lesbians through art. insem..) decide to impose THEIR VIEW on what's best for the children of heterosexual parents in the public schools. Let them wait until they are adults... until then, they should be advocating the same policies as the children's parents, NAMELY ABSTINENCE. And yes.. X.. I was quite aware the conference occurred on a Saturday. But the fact that state employees were acting in their official capacities, AND the fact that the Governor's commission were supporting it, make it an official function.American is becoming more tolerant- I hardly see that occurring... you yourself are citing increased levels of gay-bashing... Well, as the old phrase goes, "the more you stir it, the more it stinks". I much prefer the adage.. "live and let live".
