Re: "The Baker/Bush objections are just bunk and every fair minded person,
Republican or Democratic knows it."

Well, the notion of a state of crisis-like need to end this quickly, which some in both parties seem to see, is silly. First, the Baker objection does serve the purpose of limiting the process to an existing level playing field as per the law. By accepting the more complete "hand-counts" only in Gore stilted counties, we would unnecessarily and illegally sway the state popular vote in a fashion favoring candidate Gore. So that implies the requisite setting of a new level playing field where the whole state is hand-counted, and all the votes that can be found are found, 'til someone gives up. NO problem. It's either that or ya stick with the recount results as they stood as Bush wants, and I'd selfishily and compassionatly prefer(well, a little).

I suspect these are the rules that will be followed. Of course, it's just my wild wild guess. Well, surely.

Thank-you

Dan B

The Baker/Bush objections are just bunk and every fair minded person, Republican or Democratic knows it.

If it is bunk victor, then do a manual recount every ballot in Florida, Wisconsin, Iowa, and New Mexico... All of these states had very close results..

But that not even the issue now. The issue is that the uncertainty being created by not having a president is about to cause a stock market crash.

Now I don't know about you, but if I were Gore, I would not particularly like to be remembered in the history books as the man who gained the presidency, but lost the economy...

Bottom line is that in EVERY COUNTY in America, a manual recount of the ballots would be different than the electronic count. It is just the statistical odds involved. Now if Al Gore wants to go back and do a manual recount in every closely contested county in the nation, then just how long will this election go on?

But thus far they have recounted Palm Beach TWO TIMES already and Bush still leads. Why can't Gore just concede?

I GUARANTEE YOU THAT WERE BUSH IN THE SAME POSITION HE WOULD BE CONCEDING!!

Bush would have conceded, putting the good of the country over his own personal ambitions.

And that is the difference between the two candidates.
