"Westport Resources Corporation Reports Record Earnings

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2000 7:00:00 AM EST
DENVER, Nov 13, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Westport Resources Corporation (NYSE: WRC) today reported record earnings and cash flows for the third quarter 2000. Revenues increased 227% to $63.2 million, compared to revenues of $19.3 million for the prior year period. Cash flow increased 550% to $50.7 million (including a $3.4 million net gain on sale of assets), or $1.64 per basic share ($1.62 per diluted share), compared to $7.8 million, or $0.50 per basic share ($0.49 per diluted share) for the prior year period. Net income for the third quarter increased 730% to $19.0 million, or $0.62 per share ($0.61 per diluted share) compared to $2.3 million, or $0.15 per basic share ($0.14 per diluted share) for the prior year period. The strong results reflect the merger with Equitable Production Gulf Company ("EPGC") on April 7, 2000, increases in production, the impact of sharply higher oil and gas prices, and continuing cost controls.

The contribution from the acquired EPGC properties to revenues, cash flow and net income for the third quarter 2000 were $33.7 million, $29.6 million and $11.0 million, respectively."
