surfbaron.... "electors" are chosen by both major parties. you would have in the instance of florida, 25 republican and 25 democrat electors. the party that wins the overall state count then sends its set of electors to the state capital for the december 18 national electoral college vote. electors are chosen based on party loyalty and are selected long before the november election. they usually are determined at the individual state convention to select party candidates.
