This is all strictly politics with both sides fighting tooth and nail for what they think will give them the win. It is almost amusing that Bush signed into law a bill that allows for hand recount in Texas, yet calls the hand count unconstitutional. The courts will ultimately decide this, as they should, and the American people will accept the courts' decisions, as they should.

The funny thing is that Bush does n't like hand count in Florida and went to court despite he supported such a measure in his home state of Texus after he became Govurnor.
(This was discussed yesterday in ABC's evening news.)

All politicians lie and cheat and it is the degree of such actions are filtered in peoples view based on what mask they wear and how warped they are to begin with.

The interesting thing about US system is that the Constitution is a living document and that is why there were 27 Amendments. Of which 6 are for directly related to voting and are directed at addressing holes in the Constitution.

Only when crisis arise, as it is the case now, people are exposed to weaknesses in the Constitution and Laws, and gives an opportunity to get it righted. Order arises out of every chaos. I hope this chaos will create some more order and make the Constitution strong and moving forward.
It clearly exposes how outdated the current voting systems are and why a non-standard process leads to all sorts of confusions and irregularities.

To believe that Bush (and his cronies) are honest or better than Gore (and his cronies) or vice versa is equivalent to believing that Nixon did not lie nor did Clinton. Whoever comes he will have his face splattered with mud to begin with and since both the congress and senate have very thin margin, it will end up as the best cooperated four years or the worst four years, IMHO.

I concur with your opinion on this. At one time it
was reported that a few thousand voters were not allowed
to vote, even though they had their voter cards, because
of some snafu where in their names were not on a registered
page. Having lived and voted in New York State for years,
where machines were used.... a curtain was drawn around
the voter, and after checking your votes you pulled a lever
I was most dismayed when I came to Florida to find these
damnable punch cards... which were in Sarasota County.
I voted Absentee this year.... and wonder now whether my
vote was even counted. Most discouraging.
