Andrew,

Your estimate has only 6 million K7 chips compared to AMD's capacity to make 7.2 million or more. Athlon capacity alone is approximately 3.2 million in Dresden + some from Austin, and they are apparently sold out.

The fact that 80% athlons were 1 GHz or faster does not mean they were sold at that speed range. I am sure that 800 and 900 MHz athlons each outnumbered the ones sold as 1 GHz, just because, at least for the first half of the quarter, the market wanted $100 and $150 processors from AMD, not $200 or $250 ones.

I don't remember anytime lately where AMD has exceeded their ASP guidance -- in fact, they have been coming up short. For people to speculate that AMD is sandbagging their ASP forecast is to disregard everything we have seen over the last year. 80% 1 GHz yield at Dresden may be true, but from my personal observations, less than 50% of Athlon actually sold at retail are at 1 Ghz (higher than 1 Ghz has not even arrived in any measurable quantity at retail).
