Never been to Montpelier, but their Master Plan says that it has a densely built-up urban core. central-vt.com The city of Montpelier itself is too small to qualify as an urban area, but it appears to me that the area surrounding Montpelier bring it within the census definition of urbanized area, but I am not sure. >>Urbanized area (UA) An area consisting of a central place(s) and adjacent urban fringe that together have a minimum residential population of at least 50,000 people and generally an overall population density of at least 1,000 people per square mile of land area.
