Scumbria, Re: Suppose Bush wins because the Secretary of State refused to allow the recount to complete. That would make the Republican party just about as popular as they were in 1974

Given what had happened for the past week, whoever become the president will make no difference. Like Yaacov said, they both acted like spoiled children and people behind them act like typical parents as well.

You guys should cut Bush loose before it is too late."

Suppose a frog had wings.............

Is Florida's Secretary of State violating the law?

The carpetbaggers should go home.

Scumbria, suppose Gore wins because the only counties in Florida that get a recount are heavily Democratic, while the 10,000s of votes that were thrown out for mechanical problems in other heavily Republican counties go uncounted. The Democratic party will be about as popular as they were in 1980.

Scumbria,

If the Florida state judge rules against the Secretary of State, and extends the period of time for the hand count, I imagine the market will decline on the assumption that Bush will start legal processes in other states. If the court rules that the Secretary of State's decision stands, then I think the market will rally, even though Gore's people could appeal, the guess will be that he will lose and the end is close. I don't see any options for Gore beyond the hand count. Do you?

Interesting that the Gore camp is playing the partisan card with the Secretary of State and Jeb. She is said to be a personal friend, and worked on the Bush election. It's easy to suspect that her decision is colored by her being a staunch Republican. It's hard to believe it wouldn't be.

Any predictions?

John
