Pravin,

<I fear that there is a good reason, and that reason is low yields at 1.2 Ghz.>

AMD's publicly stated yields are 80%+ at 1GHz or higher. Yields don't roll-off that fast. I gather there are cooled parts that have seen north of 1.5G.

< However, is is also very likely that they are waiting for infrastructure to catch up. >

I do allow for possibility of cooling issues and motherboard stability. I think this is more likely than yield thing you propose but nevertheless I think it is low probability deal. If Gateway had systems for sale a month back I fail to see how others can be that far behind.

And, I think Gateway did move to 1.2G because the consumer and small business is a big piece of Gateway's revenues and Gateway is not too worried about ASPs on PIII based line. Compaq and HP have much higher business base to worry about.

<If Micron can not ship a 1.2 Ghz system with 266 DDR for 56 days, what hope does Compaq and HP have? >

Where does this 56 day number come from. I thought you can pick one at best Buy anytime you want - no?
