No. There is nowhere to go but out, as in devolution. This election is showing us that our system has become unstable. Contrary to the wisdom of the founders, the Federal Government has garnered more power than can be sustained. Unless we reverse this flow of power and start making States the coequal partners in government, we ain’t seen nothing yet. If McCain were to take this up as his theme and drop the inane quest for the perfect campaign finance law, then I would give him another look.
