Thank you Snowman for understanding and stating the true principles of God-fearing people. It's amazing how many people claim to believe in God...and yet their voting records prove otherwise. Lieberman tries to come out as a lamb, but his views on partial-birth express it all. Ditto for our ex divinity student. Is it any wonder that Christ stated that the prostitutes and tax collectors would enter in before the religious? BTW, I'm not claiming anything for Bush one way or the other. However, anyone can see where G & L really come from. As a born again christian, it is very sad that so many of "us" voted the "issues" rather than discerning between right and wrong.
Regardless, the fact that the presidency has come down to these two, show just how backwards we've come over the years.

Snowman, it depends. One party is a progressive and forward looking party and another is a conservative/traditional party. Both parties provide a decent equilibrium. If the public feels that morals are being compromised they will bring in Republicans. OTOH, if they feel that their growth and progress is being thwarted by ultra conservatives holding a party to ransom, then they will vote Democrats. Hence whoever makes effort to include ALL people of society in the progress is usually the winner. I see no reason to lament on morality decay as long as one has his/her own morals intact. However, I do see a problem by branding every single individual supporting democratic party as of loose morals. I can bet that number of individuals with high morals is same in both parties.

<< (Lieberman was excommunicated from the Jewish faith because of the Democratic
platform) >>
????
1. Excommunication is a Catholic rite; as far as I know (and I know lots of Jews) there is no similar concept in Judaism. There are (at least) three branches of Judaism with differing beleifs and rituals. While some Orthodox rabbis sometimes claim that members of other branches (and sometimes members of there own branches) are no longer Jews, they are mostly regarded as nutcases. There is no central religious authority in Judaism as there is in Catholicism.

2. I have the distinct impression that a large majority of Americans Jews were ecstatic to have a fellow Jew on a national ticket.

3. So what precisely is in the Democratic platform that they would find so bad? And who honestly believes anymore that party platforms actually mean anything?

4. << Some members of the Democratic party are hell bent on doing away with all morals>>
Yes there probably are a few who would like major changes in current commonly accepted morals. And the same can be said of the Republican party.
But "doing away with all morals"? I doubt that. I really doubt that.
