I don't condone using church and faith to build up one person or group and vilify another. This, sadly, has been, is and will be the MO of the religious right that controls the GOP. I will look into the JJ quote you refer to but the vilification of Dems via 'Moral McCarthyism' by the religious right is not a single event but a movement of shame that has existed for almost 20 years.
