I missed your point, I think. (Was it an attempt at humor?)

The USA is not Europe, eastern or even western. As our communications evolve (and cause a ruckus as results are reported before polls out west close), so much our voting procedures.

Step 1: Holiday every 4 years where everyone votes during the same hours on the same day.

Step 2: Ban reporting on exit polling results until all voting areas are closed (which would be the same time under step #1).

Step 2: An all electronic voting system, perhaps with secure numbers through the internet, from ANY computer. I suspect that even with the great techology available today, it would take 8 years before this would be ready for prime time. We would still have to have polling centers for the computer illiterate, although we could have less and in central areas.

Let's get it on!
