Two comments.

I find it noteworthy that in Warren Christopher's press conference earlier today, he cited in support of the Democratic position that Al Gore won the popular vote at the election. Yet (1) he & the Democrats fail to acknowledge the results of that election, and (2) in spite of his support for the rule of law, it is IRRELEVANT who won the popular vote in the national election, as the law provides victory to the candidate with the most electoral votes.

The foregoing is a prime example of how the Democrats love to twist the facts in support of their own objectives. Here, the means clearly don't justify the ends.

My second point deals with Al Gore's comments. He wants the will of the people to be heard; he wants each and every voter's vote to accurately counted. Well, in taking such a position, we have recently learned to comply with Al Gore's wishes will take months of recounting in every voting district in the nation. It also fails to recognize the inherent subjectivity in any hand count has we have continually heard described in the media, speeches, etc. Third, and most importantly, what Al Gore wants is lofty, but undermines the integrity of every election ever held, past, present, and future in every district where machine counting is the approved method of ballot counting. The bottom line here is that the will of the people must be expressed by the count of the vote by the machines in place and approved by the jurisdiction in charge of the vote and approved by the state. Al Gore fails to highlight that his preference for the will of people to be counted only applies to prevalent Democratic counties, and fails to acknowledge that the first recount showed George Bush to be the victor.

Give us a break.

But the recount is utterly worthless from a statistical angle because the counties are dominated by Democrats. By definition, this means that the total vote will have been deliberately skewed to Gore.

Can somebody provide me a precise mathematical explaination for this inherent piece of logic? I keep hearing it but it really makes no sense to me if the hand count is statistically unbiased.
