PB,, The old rule of thumb used to be ; 85% lose, 10% break even, and 5% grab all the moola.
The last few years tipped that formula on it's head.

pearly,
I think most here understand what they are doing and the lurkers get a quick lesson. I am young with no family and do this full time, so I take greater risks than most, but though almost fully invested long and short, I am in a fairly low risk position now unless a bunch of high beta stocks suddenly stay in a very narrow trading range for the next few months...something that I doubt will happen. Also, I hate gambling, with the market I have an edge, which is the time I have available to me to study what is happening daily.
