Right. I'm really concerned about credibility on this thread. That's the laffer of the week.

I remember one time I tried to make the argument to MajorDomo kvkkc that the best parents I know are "liberals." He jumped on me so bad you would have thought I called him a Communist or a Barbra Streisand fan.

So, from my perspective, I could also argue that Democrats = people who don't wish to monopolize thought. Republicans = people who want everything done their way.

A person who believes in a strong federal government, as I do and as Alexander Hamilton did, does not necessarily believe that he or she "expects the government to provide for them." Quite the contrary. I am 50 years old, have worked continuously since graduating from college and have never once expected the government to provide for me.

The reason I favor a strong federal government is that I do not wish to see a return of "states' rights" and the accompanying racial hatred, bigotry and economic discrimination" synonymous with such a euphemism.
