Chuck: More on "gun nuts":

A couple years ago Missouri had a referendum on a citizen's right to carry a concealed weapon. As I recall, the vote in St. Louis and K.C. was a resounding "no," while the vote in the wide-open spaces of the state was a resounding "yes." The referendum failed because more people voted no in St. Louis than yes in Knob Noster or New Madrid.

We saw a similar voting pattern Tuesday in the map site you posted.

Fact is, big cities have one set of problems, suburbs have another set of problems, and if you live on the Idaho-Montana border, you've got another set of concerns.

Trouble is, if you defend a citizen's right to own a gun that can fire 20 bullets in a matter of a few seconds, that might be OK if you live on the Idaho-Montana border, but such a right might pose problems for the safety of others if, for instance, you live in Chicago.
