Palm Beach Election Official
Hobnobbed with Gore

Palm Beach County election official Carol
Roberts is a well-connected Democrat who has
traveled extensively in recent years on the
taxpayer's dime, including trips to the
White House where she hobnobbed with Vice
President Al Gore, NewsMax.com has learned.

Roberts is one of two Democrats on the Palm
Beach election canvassing board who voted to
conduct a controversial hand recount of the
county's votes this weekend. A third board
member, Republican judge Charles Burton,
voted against the recount.

"On a national level, Roberts says her
leadership role has enabled her to make
contacts with Washington power brokers,"
reported the Palm Beach Post in July 1999,
"including Vice President Al Gore, whom
Roberts met at the White House...."

Roberts told the Post that her junkets to
Washington as Palm Beach County
commissioner, as well as other sojourns
around the country, translate into big bucks
for the county. "An elected official who
spends her time wisely can bring home a
great deal of knowledge that benefits [her]
constituents," she explained.

"Roberts has spent more money crossing the
country during this time than any other
commissioner," the paper reported.

Kathryn Harris is making no decision favoring either candidate. She is simply enforcing the law. Something a bit foreign to democrats.
