Mishedlo,

What about absenttee ballots by 5:00PM tomorrow.

Is there an inconistency here?

I guess one is based on circumstances under the control of the state of Florida (the counting of ballots by the counties) while the other is not (the delivery of the mail). Seems odd to me -- why not just make them both this Friday? If Zeev's comment about the latitude of the deadline is correct, I'm fine with that, too. Again, as long as both sides are playing under the same rules. I just don't want someone trying to change the rules in the middle of the game. If there is no latitude under the existing law, then I'd say 5:00PM tomorrow is it.

Don't forget, this isn't a deadline for the recount, it's the deadline for the second recount. They've already had one recount.

Dave

p.s. Just a reminder that I've posted that even though I voted for Bush, I'd be happier of Gore won at this point to keep the gov't "balanced".

p.p.s. I grew up in Duval County (at least from 7th through 12th grades). Well, actually, Clay County right next door (home of Lynyrd Skynyrd). It's extremely military. There were 3 major bases there when I was growing up, though I think there's only one now, but there are quite a few retired military personnel living there. It doesn't surprise me to hear that it's largely Republican.
